Donald Trump’s devoted followers send unsolicited campaign cash
Ben Voth, debate director and associate professor of communications at Southern Methodist University, has been studying the field and said he expects Carson to try and keep pounding his conservative evangelical message to Iowa voters because it’s a critical state for the neurosurgeon.
The survey is the first time that Mr. Trump has not led all candidates since The Times and CBS News began measuring presidential preferences at the end of July.
No other candidate comes close to Mr. Carson and Mr. Trump.
Apparently, in his first political organizing task – putting in place a competent team and abiding by legal requirements – Trump failed.
Then (whether there is causality is unknowable) there are two near-identical Iowa polls showing Ben Carson at 28 percent, crushing Trump.
In the new Monmouth survey, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are running third with 10 percent support each.
Over the same period, Mr. Carson has gained five percentage points, while Mr. Trump has fallen by five percentage points.
Mexico is one of Arizona’s largest trade partners.
“It has not been easy for me”, said Mr Trump.
An undecided voter wondered how Trump would deal with world leaders with whom he did not see eye-to-eye, given that he can’t fire them (Celebrity Apprentice reference alert) and “you could start a war by calling them a “loser” or an “idiot”. But if not, why raise the issue of Dr. Carson’s Seventh-day Adventist faith at all? “They are wrong”, said GOP operative Katie Packer, who was deputy campaign manager for 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Carson didn’t return fire on Trump Sunday for the real estate magnate’s comments a day earlier questioning Carson’s Seventh-day Adventist faith. Indeed, decline may be more likely if Carson remains popular and Trump goes after him aggressively (e.g., by raising questions about Carson’s religion).
The poll of 575 Republican primary voters was conducted 21 October through 25.
Among Trump’s rivals, Bush, who speaks fluent Spanish and married a Mexican-born woman, is viewed most favorably by Hispanics, with 26 percent giving the former Florida governor a positive rating. And they aren’t apt to say that Carson has the right experience to be president.
Still, the race in the state remains fluid, Monmouth finds, with just 1 in 5 GOP caucus-goers saying they are completely set on their choice, although this is up from 12 percent.
And by a landslide, Iowa Republicans also think Carson is more honest and trustworthy than Trump, according to a recent Quinnipiac poll. However, seeing as Trump doesn’t have the backing of a large amount of the Republican Party to attract conventional voters, I think this is a pretty poor counter-argument to make. These individuals polled help candidates run campaigns and win elections.
