Donald Trump’s Morning Joe tweets spark calls for his removal as President
Chicago Tribune Columnist Rex Huppke joins Amy to discuss the meaning of the president’s and White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ comments towards Chicago gun violence.
And she singled out Trump’s target, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, and her co-host Joe Scarborough, for launching personal attacks on Trump and others in the administration. “And what you just did is inflammatory to people all over the country who look at it and say, ‘See, once again, the president is right and everybody else is just fake media.’ Everybody in this room is only trying to do their job”.
Perhaps to console them that a woman is not going to be our next president?
“I don’t think so”, Sanders said. Around 300 individuals are relied upon to go to an occasion that will pull in about $10m, said Lindsay Jancek, a representative for the Republican National Committee. “I’m not saying that, but members of Congress have said that about this particular tweet”, CBS News White House Correspondent Major Garrett said. “He’s showed that, and that’s exactly what he did today”.
The secretary went on to explain “it’s no secret” the White House has “had a couple of vacancies for a while”. That was followed 17 minutes later by a larger eruption, in which the president named NBC, CBS, ABC, The Washington Post and The New York Times as “all Fake News!”
Sanders’ criticism of the media ate up almost five minutes of a 17-minute question-and-answer session, The Washington Post reported.
“The president is pushing back against people who attack him day after day after day. We’ve been told that we’re all fake media”. After listening to the president-elect talk about his foreign policy plans, Joe was asked by a disappointed Mr. Trump the next day if Mika could also visit Mar-a-Lago that night.
“The American people elected a fighter, they didn’t elect somebody to sit back and do nothing”, Huckabee Sanders said in defense of Trump. “I$3 f you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of him, would you?” But we live in a different world now, and that world is one where we have a presidency that has adopted a technique made famous by Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda: The Big Lie. I mean there was clearly – I understand, thank you, I appreciate that.
Sanders was in the middle of blasting the media, specifically the use of anonymous sources and the now-retracted CNN story on Russian Federation ties with the Trump campaign, when Karem interjected. “There have been outrageous personal attacks not just on him but on everyone around him”.
Two students at a top USA law school argued in March that the little-known amendment allows Congress to form its own body to evaluate the President’s fitness for office without impeaching him.
Sanders’ remark on Friday came in response to a question about whether easy access to guns was responsible for the high murder rate in Chicago, which President Donald Trump tweeted about Friday morning.
