Donald Trump’s top political adviser says he ‘fired Trump’
For his part, Trump announced through a spokesman that he let Sonte go because “Roger wanted to use the campaign for his own personal publicity”. Stone said he sent Trump a letter of resignation claiming the outspoken billionaire’s controversial comments had “overwhelmed” his “core message”.
Donald Trump has parted ways with his political strategist, Roger Stone.
“I resigned this morning – categorically deny being fired”, Stone advised CBS Information in an e mail. However, Stone said that he was the one who called it quits with Trump, saying that his constant feuding is distracting from the core issues. Following the story, last Sunday, the Trump campaign fired Nunberg, who was a protege of Stone’s and had clashed with campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
“Mr. Trump made Megyn Kelly look really bad – she was a mess with her anger and caught totally off guard”, his campaign said.
But Stone maintained he quit after seeing Trump’s comments on Kelly, in a CNN interview on Friday night.
“Probably the Russian and Chinese governments know more about Hillary Clinton’s email server than do the members of the U.S. Congress”, Walker said.
Stone, who has known Trump since the 1980s, added that he cares about the GOP front-runner as a friend and that he cares about the fate of the nation. The debate was watched by 24 million people on Thursday night.
Despite not knowing who truly said what, Trump’s campaign is obviously weakening from within after his misogynistic comments towards GOP debate moderator Megyn Kelly.
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes has assured Donald Trump that he’ll be “treated fairly” by the station, Trump tweeted Monday. “My whole life has been led on the theory that I do not want to embarrass people”.
After Nunberg’s firing, anonymous allies of his told multiple media outlets they believed Lewandowski was somehow responsible for the Business Insider story about his Facebook posts.
“I’m not going to embarrass anybody”, he said, declining to answer the question. The closest model for him I can think of is Douglas C. Neidermeyer, the bullying ROTC student leader in the 1978 classic college film Animal House.
The RedState Gathering, an annual conservative forum taking place in Atlanta this weekend, revoked its invitation to Trump for an appearance there Saturday evening.
The Trump statement says he wants to focus the campaign on “Make American Great Again”.
