Donald Trump’s Twitter Love Affair: What — Or Rather Who — Stands Out?
No TV reservations are being changed in New Hampshire.
And while the Trump team might argue that they can win based on bringing newcomers into the Iowa caucus process, there has been no dramatic increase in the number of registered Iowa voters. “Yeah, they’re scared”, Bush stated. He mocked President Barack Obama for flying to Hawaii on vacation aboard fuel-burning Air Force One.
In the six months since announcing his run for president, Donald Trump has defied political gravity, seeing his popularity among Republicans rise despite – or because of – a steady flow of provocative policies and barbs that would sink most traditional politicians. Except for Trump. Some Republicans said he sounded like a Democrat in October when he suggested that the attacks were Bush’s fault. Though he was initially slow to take on Trump, the real estate billionaire turned politician has proved a useful foil.
Columbia resident John Hethcox said it’s Bush’s track record in Florida that will make him among his top choices when the primary rolls around in February. He said he would be out of town for Rubio’s scheduled appearance at Hudson’s on Saturday.
Steve Fyle of Treynor, Iowa, said he recently switched his allegiance from retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson to Donald Trump. Bush had made early advertising reservations remaining for slightly over $1 million in Iowa, and slightly under $2 million in SC, according to the campaign.
“I don’t want to take any chances”, Trump said, as he pledged to spend “a lot of money” to attack any candidate who attacks him. “However, we know that Iowa is a challenge”. “With work, and life and bad weather, sometimes it can be too much”, Fyle explained.
In Iowa, Bush has two main goals: finish no lower than fifth (third place is the optimistic goal) and, more important, beat Christie.
Meanwhile, Trump and Ted Cruz-the latter of whom increasingly appears to be on a glide path to winning Iowa-continue to operate under some sort of mutual non-aggression pact and, for the time being at least, continue to escape the attention of the supposed Bush Death Star.
Earlier this month, CNN reported that Carson’s campaign was in crisis, and last week, the candidate himself pushed back against reports that said he was considering a major shakeup to his campaign staff, including senior staff assignments.
A pro-Bush SuperPAC will still spend $19 million in the first three early states to vote.
The president and Hillary Clinton’s stances on national security and threats from the Islamic State were also a common target Wednesday.
At a campaign event at Hudson’s Smokehouse in Lexington Wednesday night, the former governor of Florida said the move was just a necessary shift at this point in the campaign.
“Jeb has executive experience leading in one of the largest states and one of the most diverse states making conservative reforms”, Hethcox said. She is campaigning on the basis of her gender as she seeks to become the first woman president of the United States. George Bush is certain to remind voters that his brother hails from a political dynasty.
