Donald Trump says it’s time for a few rivals to drop out
Mr. Christie said that he understood the widespread “anger and disgust” with Washington that has motivated voters to back Mr. Trump, but that they will regret sending someone to the White House who does not have any political experience. Trump asked, continuing his habit of making it hard for question-askers to spit out their whole query before he launches into an answer that may or may not relate to what they asked. “You know, when I say, ‘Build a wall, ‘ I’m not just playing games – we’re gonna have a real wall”.
Probably realizing he’d plowed over the boy’s dreams like a pothole-repairing steamroller, Trump observed, “You love it, I can see, right?”
But the crowd gathered in at the Manchester Radisson Wednesday morning was – to borrow a favorite descriptor from the candidate himself – still pretty “huge”.
“I love NASA”, said Trump, according to a live video of his remarks.
The incident is not the first time the Donald trampled over the space exploration dreams of a questioner at a political event. “We are also going to close up the borders”, he said. “People get hooked, unknowingly”.
A recent WMUR poll found that treating drug abuse is the top issue facing New Hampshire. “You love it? Whatever it is you love, you do”.
“I don’t think anybody did poorly really”.
To a few applause, he said, “I happen to think the police are not being treated properly in this country”.
Trump also reiterated his plan to “leave social security alone” and get rid of fraud, waste, and abuse in the system.
One man asked if Trump could sign a copy of his book “Crippled America”, and Trump looked at his photo on the cover and told the audience that, “it’s the worst picture I think I’ve ever taken”.
Trump attracted a different crowd, to Wednesday morning’s Politics & Eggs event, a staple for presidential candidates in New Hampshire that typically draws only business professionals. It’s the second record-setting Politics and Eggs this year, after more than 400 people showed up to hear Hillary Clinton speak at an earlier candidate forum in October.
