Donald Trump: ‘Schlonged’ was not a vulgar insult
Trump went on to defend his comments, saying that NPR’s Neal Conan had once used the phrase to refer to the trouncing at the polls that the Walter Mondale-Geraldine Ferraro presidential ticket received in the 1984 election.
Clinton’s camp was not pleased with either comment and issued a harsh tweet afterwards via her director of communications, Jennifer Palmieri, stating: “We are not responding to Trump but everyone who understands the humiliation this degrading language inflicts on all women should. It’s disgusting. I don’t want to talk about it”, Trump said.
“Hillary Clinton will not be apologizing to Donald Trump for correctly pointing out how his hateful rhetoric only helps ISIS recruit more terrorists”, said spokesman Brian Fallon in a statement. As happened in 2008, when a Clinton beat back a surging Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential primary after a rare teary moment on the campaign trail, her moments of vulnerablity make often turn to her political advantage.
At a campaign appearance Tuesday in Keota, Iowa, Clinton was asked by a young student about how to combat bullying.
“I talked about how important it was that we supports kids, we work with schools, we work with parents, and then I ended up by saying we also should not elect a bully to be president”, Ms. Clinton said, to loud cheers.
In Iowa Tuesday, Clinton told her audience: “There is nothing they want more than to be able to claim that the United States is against Islam and against Muslims”.
“I thought she gave up”, Trump said.
This isn’t the first time Trump has used what could be interpreted as gendered language to criticize Clinton. She spent a useless paragraph on the Sanders campaign data breach when a simple “this shouldn’t be a big issue; let’s move on” would have sufficed. I don’t know who would be worse, I don’t know, how could it be worse?
“She’s a liar!” he repeated at the rally, labeling Clinton “not a president”.
“It’s not a sign of strength to insult people with profanities”, Bush said.
Reports after the debate said the women’s bathroom was farther from the stage than the men’s bathroom.
“Anything he says in my opinion is not worth responding to because it’s ridiculous and he’s just an attention-seeker”, said Elaine Schilling, of Davenport, when asked about the Republican.
Critics call Trumps latest attacks vulgar and sexist.
