Donald Trump takes centre stage in first Republican debate
Fox’s Megyn Kelly was anything but “Fair & Balanced” when it came to throwing hard questions at Donald Trump.
Ms Kelly had challenged him on remarks he made about women during a TV debate. Trump is following the tried and true political tactic of fighting with the media.
Mr Trump said he had sacked Roger Stone.
Tensions between the Republican party’s top 10 candidates soared soon after they took the stage in Cleveland, when Trump said he could not promise to back the eventual party nominee – or that he would not mount a solo campaign. Before she could finish the question, Trump interjected, “Only Rosie O’Donnell”.
After the debate, he took to Twitter to say Ms Kelly had “really bombed” and that she hadn’t been “very good or professional”.
The CBS News contributor explained to “CBS This Morning” why Trump did not do well with the post-debate focus group he conducted.
But I also think that while Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not trust. “Kasich’s record here in Ohio is one of a stalled economic recovery and massive tax giveaways to the wealthy, while making devastating cuts to our kids’ schools and critical local services”. Donald Trump, by the way, has sought to reassure the voters by pointing out that he is too rich to be bought. Marco Rubio and Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry were speaking Friday at the RedState Gathering of conservative activists in Atlanta. Did he move from being an angry agitator to a more presidential politician?
Talk in the hallways outside the conference echoed these concerns.
He said “containment means jabs and a few elbows are great, but I think beyond that it can be problematic”.
If there was a loser, Gross said, it was Donald Trump, who was at center stage based on his poll-leading status. The other problem is that candidates often paint themselves further into a corner when they try to compensate for blunders.
“It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him”. And the problem is, it’s just getting started. “Nearly all of his supporters abandoned him because of what he said”.
Jeb Bush, a Republican presidential candidate, picks up lobsters during a campaign stop at Brown’s Lobster Pound in Seabrook, N.H., on Friday. “No. Excuse” shortly after the CNN interview.
When Kelly confronted Trump’s history of sexist slurs, Trump eventually claimed that political correctness was the country’s “issue”, saying that he “frankly” doesn’t have time for it.
