Donald Trump, the ADHD Candidate
So what the hell is she really talking about?
For Clinton, the stakes are enormous.
Under Trump, vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine said, the GOP “has moved too far away from the party of Lincoln”, making a pitch to Republicans concerned about the direction of their party to leave the GOP fold. Right now, Trump and Clinton are in a dead heat in the Buckeye State. She’s now been shunted to the sidelines, but not before Clinton named the Florida congresswoman the honorary chairwoman of her national campaign. But her primary focus was persuading Americans to not be seduced by Trump’s vague promises to restore economic security and fend off threats from overseas.
“Who knows who it is”, he said of the perpetrator of the hacking of Democratic National Convention staff emails, who remains unknown pending an FBI investigation.
Sanders has used the convention in Philadelphia to demand that the party embrace most of the key provisions of his progressive agenda. He joins an unnamed Republican donor working with Clinton ally David Brock who has made a similar offer of $5 million.
He’ll be the He in the VIP box watching as She accepts the presidential nomination at the Democratic convention on Thursday. His slogan, part of what “communicologists” call “branding”, also makes it seem that the Obama Administration has allowed the country to deteriorate.
Clinton had just been anointed the inheritor of Obama’s legacy with his vigorous endorsement speech, the candidate who could realize the “promise of this great nation”. “And there’s a lot that happened which helped the American people during those eight years”, she said.
Biden, who served in the Senate with Clinton, said that her readiness goes beyond political knowledge.
“Keep going the way you are”, she said.
Wednesday’s was the picture of diversity that Democrats have sought to frame the whole week: A black man symbolically seeking to hand the weightiest baton in the free world to a woman.
Trump spoke on other topics during the wide-ranging interview.
“Given that Clinton has been leading Trump by about that much, we should expect polling over the weekend to show the gap has basically closed”, he said.
Ret. Marine General John R. Allen, a former commander in Afghanistan, will underscore the same point. He is a 10-year U.S. Air Force veteran, a political reporter and commentator for the past decade, and has been involved in numerous election and public policy campaigns for over 20 years.
To Democrats, Trump’s comments this week about Russian Federation underscored their concerns about him becoming commander in chief. The appearance of him encouraging Russian Federation to meddle in the presidential campaign enraged Democrats and Republicans, even as he dismissed suggestions from Obama and other Democrats that Moscow already was intervening on his behalf.
Trump said on Friday that he was only pointing out a National Enquirer photo that appeared to show Cruz’s father with assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. Cruz’s bait-and-switch rhetorical game fit into the final problem, which was that Cruz was not tracking the fact that over the first three days of the convention, the delegates had bonded with Trump.
Now there’s a school of thought that it’s pointless to talk about such polling boosts in the era of back-to-back conventions, that it’s all kind of mashed together and you have to wait until both party gatherings are over.
