Donald Trump to Give Speech on Immigration This Week
But when Trump returns this time to the Motor City, he will be hosted by none other than Bishop Wayne T. Jackson’s Impact Network, recognized as one of the most popular and powerful Christian broadcasting networks in the nation as well as one of the nation’s most successful Black businesses.
This weekend, Donald Trump is going to give it another shot, this time in Detroit where he’ll tape a television interview at a predominantly black church Great Faith Ministries International.
Rev. W.J. Rideout, leader of another Detroit congregation, All God’s People Church, announced he was organizing a protest Trump’s Detroit visit in a Monday CNN interview.
Trump has been making an appeal to African Americans voters recently, questioning what they have to lose by supporting a Trump presidency. “It fits that racialized narrative that crime is a particular community’s problem rather than crime being a reality in the American construct”. I did an op-ed this week for Blavity and I talked about how Donald Trump hasn’t sat down with Ebony, with Jet. At his Charlotte stop, he failed to mention North Carolina’s strict voting law, passed by a Republican-dominated legislature and struck down by a federal court for specifically targeting African-American voters. He also hasn’t done any Latino outlets; you have Univision, Telemundo, El Pais and so on.
Clinton leads among married white women with college degrees, a group that supported the last three Republican presidential candidates. Trump is scheduled to speak at a black church in Detroit, where he will talk about issues affecting the community, such as unemployment, education and safety in the inner city, she said. Many say Trump’s role in leading the so-called birther movement that questioned President Barack Obama’s birthplace doomed his chances with African-American voters. He’s going to bring better jobs.
SS: No, I don’t. Trump asked African Americans as he stood before an overwhelmingly white audience in MI recently. The vote is really the only thing subjugated people have to call attention to their plight and equalize the socioeconomic landscape.
Alejandro Lugo, who moved to Miami over 20 years ago after living in Cuba for 30 years, said outside a recent campaign event in Ft. He hasn’t given us any remedy to this rhetoric.
SS: I have to lose my dignity. “We’ve got to change the image of the GOP among Negroes”. But many of his high-profile black supporters have dubious reputations; they include Diamond and Silk, the sister duo who stump full-time for the presidential hopeful, but have been pressed about whether they’re being paid by his campaign; a black pastor who posted a cartoon of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in blackface; scandal-plagued boxing promoter Don King; and King’s equally scandal-ridden ex-client Mike Tyson. I am the former national press secretary for Bernie Sanders; I worked for lots of other candidates. What did we do?
“People have asked why hasn’t he come to a black church or university and so forth and so on; why hadn’t he come and spoke to us about what his policies are?” Since 2016 appears to be the first election where minorities will constitute 30% of the vote, Trump will need to carry almost 70% of the white vote to beat Clinton.
I don’t like to give free advice, but that is what he needs to do and that is not what his campaign is doing.
African-Americans are listening to Mr. Trump, but what they are not hearing is understanding or solutions.
It’s nearly as if Trump is only pretending to court black voters to pacify Republicans who are still somewhat concerned with their party’s reputation.
Polls have found that support for Trump among black voters is as low as zero percent in some swing states and 1 percent nationally.
