Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton would be an ‘amazing thing,’ Trump says
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is ripping into rival Bernie Sanders, saying the Vermont senator offers unrealistic policies and overstates his anti-establishment credentials.
“Even if Hillary loses votes – I’ve thought this through – it’s a long way to go in the nomination”, he said, calling Sanders’ prospects of winning SC – which holds its primary after New Hampshire – “tough sledding”.
Despite Sanders being an avowed socialist, MoveOn members contend he is more electable than Clinton in a general election because he’ll inspire greater turnout.
With a touch of sarcasm, Clinton said President Barack Obama’s work to pass an overhaul to the nation’s health care system was a major accomplishment and derided Sanders’ plans for a single-payer Medicare-for-all system.
An NBC/The Wall Street Journal/Marist poll released Sunday found Clinton with 48 percent and Sanders with 45 percent of likely caucus goers, representing a closer margin than past polls have indicated. “And he has credibility on it”, the vice president said on CNN Monday, referring to the issue of income inequality.
“This is a massive vote in favor of Bernie Sanders, showing that grassroots progressives across the country are excited and inspired by his message and track record of standing up to big money and corporate interests to reclaim our democracy for the American people”, Sheyman said.
“What Bernie Sanders has to do is say that the Second Amendment says – which he has, of late – the Second Amendment says you can limit who can own a gun, that people who are criminals shouldn’t have guns”, he said. “Promise me.’ I said, ‘I don’t think we’re going to have to anyway.’ He said, ‘promise me, ‘” Biden said.
Though Clinton has the backing of Democratic leaders and top donors, polls show a narrowing contest in Iowa, and Sanders with a slight lead in New Hampshire, which borders his home state of Vermont. Bernie Sanders have also been invited to speak at the February 13 gathering. “But on the issue of guns, let me be very clear I support the president”. Clinton was back in Iowa after a two-day trip to the state last week but has also held fundraisers in California and plans to keep a lower profile later this week, with closed fundraisers in Washington and NY.
Last week Trump lobbied attacks against Clinton and former president Bill Clinton. Four female senators – Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Claire McCaskill of Missouri – will campaign Friday and Saturday.
