Donald Trump wants Congress to investigate his ‘wiretap’ claim against Obama
In recent days, the Breitbart News website has published reports citing other anonymously sourced or unconfirmed reports about the Obama administration’s attempts to investigate Trump campaign ties to Moscow.
He added a caveat: “This could have unfolded or become available in the time since I left government”. The “GMA” host didn’t hold back from calling out falsehoods.
House Oversight Chair Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), whose committee would play a supporting role in any probe, said he hasn’t seen any evidence to support Trump’s accusations of wiretapping, but he wouldn’t dismiss such a claim out of hand.
“This may come as a surprise to the current occupant of the Oval Office, but the president of the United States does not have the authority to unilaterally order the wiretapping of an American citizen”, Earnest said. “His administration could have done this”.
Well that didn’t take long did it? Congress and the Obama administration reluctantly took steps to curtail those activities once they got exposed. “And I’m sure that this matter will be a part of that inquiry”. This looks like a rhetorical Hail Mary to reverse-engineer Trump’s claims in light of the FBI’s denials.
“We had no evidence of such collusion”, Clapper said on “Meet the Press”. Trump was resorting to “authoritarian” tools and methods, Pelosi said. On principle, Sanders is right.
That development put Mr Trump in a rage, U.S. media reported, because it brought allegations of Russian links to his election campaign back into the spotlight. If the White House can’t do that, they should retract the claim and apologize.
In short, the Trump administration is now launching an investigation into the Obama administration, based on a series of tweets with no concrete evidence.
“Thus far, I have not seen anything directly that would support what the president has said”, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said in an interview with “CBS This Morning”.
Several congressional committees are now investigating the Trump team’s contacts with Russian Federation, which was accused of interfering in the 2016 US presidential race to help Trump through hacking activities.
After Trump’s well-received speech to Congress on Tuesday, the tweets reflected the president’s growing frustration with the swirling allegations about his advisers’ ties to Russian Federation, which are under FBI investigation, and his team’s inability to overcome them. “If you head a team, you have to lead it”.
I’m guessing President Obama won’t be responding to this since you know, he’s an adult and this is a joke. Sometimes he does this to change the subject when he comes under too much scrutiny.
