Donald Trump: ‘We’re getting rid of our rigged system’
As America’s political focus shifts to blue this week in Philadelphia, it’s worth reviewing what happened at the Republican National Convention last week in Cleveland. “Her favorable ratings have since held near that level, including through last week’s Republican National Convention”, Frank Newport, editor-in-chief at Gallup said.
Dwight Nowell, a Gulf War veteran, said he can’t support Trump because “the only thing he believes a black man can do is make babies”.
“I’ve worked hard over the years on numerous issues you are about and work on every day”. Nearly 6 in 10 (58%) said the Republican convention spent too much time attacking Democrats, and 18% called Trump’s speech “terrible”, the highest by far since CNN started began the question in 1996.
Donald Trump vowed Tuesday to fire those responsible for the problems that have plagued the Department of Veterans Affairs and to give military veterans access to private health care providers, warning that “crooked Hillary Clinton” seems bent on sweeping the entire controversy “under the rug”. Add third-party candidates to the mix, however, and Trump is ahead by three. He also spoke about his ten-step plan for veterans reform – a plan that he has discussed previously on the campaign trail.
The presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, made two campaign stops in Charlotte just hours before the opening of the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia. The now-cast also suggests that Trump has gained a net of about 4 percentage points on Clinton in national polls from a week ago, turning a deficit of about 3 points into a 1-point lead. Further, 45 per cent continue to say they did prefer someone other than Trump as the nominee.
In the CNN poll, the 39 per cent who say they have a favourable view of Clinton is lower than at any point in CNN’s regular polling since April 1992, when she wasn’t even first lady yet. Then, in an extraordinary scene Wednesday night, the convention hall broke out into jeers as former presidential candidate Ted Cruz refused to explicitly endorse Trump during his prime-time speech. Over the previous year, she has come under pressure from Sanders and his liberal supporters to embrace progressive policy priorities.
He also said he would not allow refugees to enter the USA from Syria and criticized Clinton and her running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, for wanting to bring in refugees into the country. I am unhappy with the direction the country is going, but not for the reasons Donald Trump screams about.
But the single most potent weapon Clinton has to unite Democrats may be Trump.
Those positives for Trump come despite some sharply negative reviews for the convention itself.
Trump knocked politicians, saying, “All talk, no action”.
