Donald Trump weighs in on Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe mistake
After the flub was revealed on live television, rumors soon began to circulate that Harvey purposefully announced the wrong victor.
During the pageant, Harvey announced Miss Colombia as the victor of this year’s beauty pageant.
Harvey posted a apology to the contestants and viewers to Twitter after the pageant.
“I think she did a really good job with her reaction and with acting like a good title holder as Miss Columbia”, Miss Los Angeles County Rachael Maurer said.
Now she has reportedly apologised for her comments, with the Miss Universe Germany team issuing a statement on their official Facebook page – shortly before the entire page was pulled down.
Following Harvey’s alleged cue-card fumble – Miss Colombia was named 2015’s Miss Universe, only to have the crown taken off her head and given to Miss Philippines – Trump turned self-congratulatory, retweeting calls for his renewed ownership of the pageant.
Then he awarded the crown to the real victor. She had no way to know if the comedian host was having fun at her expense.
Immediately after saying her name, the audience cheered and Gutierrez-Arévalo was given a crown and large bouquet.
After Miss Universe host Steve Harvey accidentally crowned Miss Colombia instead of the rightful victor, Miss Philippines, ET spoke with a source who explained the blunder. “I’m so sorry to say that”. It was my mistake.
Not everyone is happy about the Philippines’ Pia Wurtzbach’s Miss Universe win.
And sadly the crowning moment was marred and the program abruptly ended. Speaking in his newest podcast, Perez even exposed: “Every single judicial judge in in that panel, all four of us, voted for Miss Philippines to be number one”.
Former Miss California Toay Foster Ortiz said either Harvey made an honest mistake or the whole thing was part of a larger plan. “I’m so sorry for [Miss Colombia]”. “Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play”, it said via Fox representative Joanna Wolff.
