Donovan McNabb Sentenced To 18 Days In Jail For ‘Extreme DUI’
Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb will serve jail time after his second DUI arrest in two years, according to TMZ. He served a one-day sentence in the Lower Buckeye Jail and paid almost $1,500 in fines.
McNabb will spend 18 days in a county facility after being pulled over when his vehicle crashed into another stopped at a red light in Gilbert, Ariz.
Laboratory results showed McNabb’s blood-alcohol content was 0.171 percent, considered to be “extreme DUI” under Arizona law, police said. His lawyer told TMZ he has completed 16 hours of alcohol counseling and “already does hundreds of hours of community service each year so 30 will be no problem”.
Court officials have confirmed that McNabb will indeed face a jail sentence.
TMZ also reported that McNabb was granted a work release.
McNabb explained away the “suspicious scent on his breath” by saying that he had recently taken medicine for a cold.
This was the second time the 38-year-old has been arrested for DUI in Arizona.
Following his latest DUI, McNabb was suspended indefinitely from Fox Sports where the ex-Syracuse star had served as a commentator and analyst on Fox Sports Live.
McNabb must report by the end of November.
