Doodlebug the orphaned kangaroo loves his teddy beary beary much
Tim Beshara, an adviser to Greens senator for Tasmania Peter Whish-Wilson, tweeted the photo of Doodlebug with his bear Tuesday.
He explained that Doodlebug is an orphan, and “apparently a teddy on a string makes for a good companion for [him]”.
According to Daily Mail, there is no word on what exactly happened to Doodlebug’s mother.
So, who wants to start a Doodlebug fan club with us?!
One possibility is that he fell out of his mother’s pouch and was abandoned.
Many news outlets have listed Doodlebug as a wallaby but Gillian says he is an eastern-grey kangaroo.
Tim commented: ‘They seem to respond to the toys much in the same way as a toddler.
Gillian nursed the joey back to health and found that he really liked the teddy bears that she hung around her yard. “I’ve even had American morning shows using it on air”, Mr Beshara told the Daily Mail’s Nelson Groom. The joey is seen to be in good health with no signs of distress or discomfort.
This adorable picture of a wallaby holding a furry friend close has gone viral on the internet.
