Doritos Unveils Rainbow-Colored Chips to Support LGBT Community
Doritos has decided to partner with the It Gets Better Project to show their support for the LGBT community by unveiling its colorful Rainbow Doritos! The chips come in shades of green, blue, purple, red, and orange inspired by colors of the Pride flag.
“Time and again, our consumers have shown us, there really is nothing bolder than being true to yourself and living life to the fullest”, said Ram Krishnan, chief marketing officer, Frito-Lay.
Frito-Lay has joined forces with the It Gets Better Project to produce a snack capable of coating customers with an LGBT-powdered rainbow on their fingertips.
The It Gets Better Project was started by advice columnist and gay-rights activist Dan Savage to stop anti-gay bullying.
The chips will also be available on September 20 during Dallas Pride, which Doritos is sponsoring this year. They even have their own hashtag across Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram: #boldandbetter. Plus, 100% of the proceeds from chip sales will go directly to the nonprofit.
“We have stood for diversity and inclusion throughout our entire history”, he added. For more information, visit www.pepsico.com.
Brett Peters, the communications director It Gets Better Project, praised the snack company for using its international reach to shine a spotlight on this cause.
“To get a bag, make a donation and share your support to inspire others”.
