Doug Baldwin: Baldwin drops 3 TDs on defense-less Ravens
The Seattle Seahawks take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14 of the National Football League schedule on Sunday, kick off time at 1:00 PM ET, at M&T Bank Stadium.
If the area inside the 20-yard line is the red zone, nearly the entire field is the red-hot zone these days for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who for the second consecutive week had a game for the ages in leading the Seahawks to an easy victory.
Earlier in the week, I wrote how the game against the Seahawks could get ugly.
Despite an early injury to starting running back Thomas Rawls, the Seattle Seahawks maintained the team’s impressive hot streak going with a dominating win against the Baltimore Ravens.
Wilson became the first quarterback in Seahawks history to have a pair of games with at least five touchdown passes in the same season. Wilson was 23 of 32 for 292 yards, continuing his late-season surge.
Baldwin scored on passes of 14, 22 and 16 yards. Look for him to continue to make good plays this week.
What didn’t help was that his offensive line was reshuffled, with left guard Kelechi Osemele moving to left tackle – where he played at Iowa State – for Eugene Monroe (season-ending injured reserve, shoulder) and Ryan Jensen inserted at left guard.
Rawls, who was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Week, was pulled back by a gang of Ravens tacklers in a 3-yard loss.
“To come out here on the road in a tough environment and win feels great”, Wilson said.
No matter. As long as Wilson has time in the pocket and he sure did Sunday the Seahawks’ offense is equipped to handle just about any situation. Pete Carroll said after the game that the ankle was broken and Rawls would be out for the rest of the season. Tampa Bay, Atlanta and Philadelphia are all two games back at 6-7 with three games to play, so Minnesota represents Seattle’s biggest challenge for the fifth spot. Fantasy Tip: Ravens sputtered offensively last week and will start either hurting Matt Schaub or Jimmy Clausen at QB.
“Marshawn is working out with us rehabbing”, he said.
GAME PLAN: The main goal for the Ravens will be avoiding turnovers, which were the difference in last week’s loss to the Dolphins. “I’m not happy about it; disappointed”, Harbaugh said. “We didn’t play well today”. Allen has been playing quite well in relief of Forsett and has actually been an improvement as far as pass catching out of the backfield has been concerned.
Helping Wilson along the way were rookie Tyler Lockett (six catches, 104 yards, two touchdowns) and Doug Baldwin (six catches, 82 yards, three touchdowns).
Mariota was on the receiving end of an Antonio Andrews pass for a 41-yard TD in the third quarter, then hit Dexter McCluster with a 2-point conversion, as the Titans cut New York’s lead to 27-8 with 4:09 left in the period. That made for an 86-yard drive in nine plays.
The No. 5 seed, the first wild card, begins the postseason at the fourth seed January 9 or 10. His passer-rating in the first half was 118.1.
