Doug Ford to make ‘special’ announcement in Toronto

A new book about Rob Ford and his family will “rock” the political and media worlds, the brother of Toronto’s late crack-smoking mayor announced Tuesday amid speculation he is toying with the idea of running for the Conservative party leadership.
When asked who will be named in the book, Ford said to “stay tuned for November 22”. “There’s no politician safe in this country”, he said.
Ford said the memoir is written in “Rob’s words” as well as Rob’s widow Renata and his mother, Diane Ford. Sometimes when he has done so in the past, he has alerted his opponents to a genuine political threat he poses, in the form of his flair for media manipulation and the sway he holds over the still-considerable populist political movement his younger brother built up in Toronto.
When his brother started working on the book, he “finally felt like he could tell the truth about issues the media called him out on”, Ford said.
According to a news release by the book’s publisher Harper Collins, the tell-all will chronicle the Ford family history, including the origins of the family company, Deco Labels and Tags, their father’s career in politics, Rob Ford’s controversial time as mayor and his eventual cancer diagnosis. Growl: “I don’t know if it’s going to be holding the mayor accountable”. “Look forward to seeing your names in one of these books”, he told the reporters in attendance. “Politicians that were drinking and doing drugs, but they were untouched, they were unscathed”. “He was quite excited about the book”.
Proceeds will go to a “variety of charities”.
“I’m happy it’s happening”, she said of the book.
Ford also confirmed that he intends to re-enter politics sometime within the next year, though he wouldn’t say whether he wants to run for municipal, provincial or federal office.
Doug Ford came out swinging during a surprise announcement Tuesday, saying that while Justin Trudeau may be prime minister, he is nothing more than a “snowboard instructor” and “part-time drama teacher”.
