Dougie Freedman: Nottingham Forest deserved more than defeat against Middlesbrough
The Forest manager, Dougie Freedman, felt his side had done enough to secure something from the game, possibly even to win it, and had no complaints about their performance.
The home side now sit ninth in the table, with just a single point separating them from the top six.
There’s a mouth watering clash in the Championship lunchtime as Nottingham Forest face Middlesbrough with live streaming available on the game.
Alongside Hillsborough and Portman Road, Nottingham Forest’s City Ground is one that is usually unkind to the Teessiders, with Boro’s last win by the Trent coming in 1999 in a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Hamilton Ricard and Brian Deane.
“But we have won this time because we have the quality, because we have experience; we have experienced players on the pitch and, in the end, that helped us to collect the three points. You will not see me getting too emotional when we win or when we lose”, he said.
Former Fulham defender Fernando Amorebieta could keep his place ahead of Gibson however while Cristian Stuani is also set to stave off the challenge of Adam Reach after he scored two goals against the Bees to take his tally to the season to 7.
He added: “I am sure people were questioning things before the game, but I have the opportunity to work with these players every day”.
“I understand what Forest fans want and I can not always deliver it”.
“But they are now more compact, they are a strong team, they defend really well and they have good players up front who can hurt you”. Ward, the creator of the winning goal midweek, was taken off due to fatigue rather than injury, meaning that Forest have no injury worries for the game. The midfielder is rediscovering his match fitness following a groin problem that hampered him for much of last season. Is there progress here?
