Dr. Dre Beats Gun Rap Following Malibu Driveway Encounter
Earlier today, TMZ reported that the LA’s District Attorney has already rejected & thrown out the case due to insufficient evidence.
Dr. Dre, who rose to superstardom in the late 1980s as part of gangsta rap pioneers N.W.A, has not commented on the incident.
But deputies did not find any gun on Dr. Dre, an executive at Apple, who said he had been reaching for his phone to record the incident.
A source close to the producer-turned-headphones heavyweight previously told The News that the motorist “was pretty insane from the get go”, apparently suffering from a road rage attack when Dre arrived at his property and asked him to move.
The incident with Dr. Dre comes amid a renewed spotlight on police around the United States after a series of killings by officers of African Americans.
The caller claimed he had parked his auto in front of a Malibu residence when the owner of the home ordered him to leave and showed a handgun, police said.
According to the deputies, Dre was cooperative, consented to be searched and denied having a gun. TMZ broke the story, a motorist who was blocking Dre’s driveway off PCH insisted on making a citizen’s arrest, claiming Dre pulled the weapon during a verbal dispute.
According to TMZ, the incident took place Monday (July 25), when an unidentified motorist blocked the entrance to Dre’s (born Andre Young) driveaway.
Sheriff’s Capt. Chris Reed said that under the law, an individual can request a private person’s arrest be made when a deputy hasn’t witnessed a misdemeanor crime.
