Dr. Dre donating album proceeds to fund arts centre in Compton
The hip-hop star’s first album, in 16 years was released on today (Aug 7) and is already getting rave reviews from his fans.
He explained that he really wanted to do something special for Compton. The mogul has committed to donate all of his royalty shares to help fund a new arts center in the California city.
One criticism of Dre was that his best days were behind him.
Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr Dre is inspired by the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. “We look forward to working with Dr. Dre and his team to develop an incredible place for our community”. Those who couldn’t wait to hear his new tracks in over 15 years flocked to Apple Music late on August 6 to stream the new album, reports E! The rapper had been rumoured to be working on another project concerning the planets in the Milky Way solar system, which Dr. Dre himself stated was a reason for the delay in the now cancelled “Detox’ album”.
Now apart from so many artists being a part of this album the people out there love it. Twitter has blown up with positive reviews and even the critics have come up good remarks for the album. Compton, Dre has said, will be his “grand finale”. “I don’t think I did a good enough job”, he added.
On August. 1, Dr. Dre introduced on Beats 1, to the apparent shock of everybody within the studio, that he would launch the album, “Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre“.
“I kept it under wraps, and now the album is finished”. He’s got his all-time standout artists like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, The Game, and Xzibit, along with 12 other guest spots, including his newer artists like King Mez, Jon Connor, and of course Kendrick Lamar.
That single is still available for download if you missed it, but in an interview on Beats Radio, Dre has said he made the last minute decision to shelve “Detox” because he didn’t like the end product. We might just say his money’s going “straight into Compton“.
