Dr. Dre’s new album, Compton: The Soundtrack, is coming August 7
The soundtrack for the film will unsurprisingly be released exclusively through Apple Music, given Dr. Dre’s role in the company now.
Dr. Dre made the announcement about his new album during his weekly show on Beats 1 called The Pharmacy, he said that he kept the album under wraps for a long time but now it’s finished.
“Straight Outta Compton” is due out in Australian cinemas on September 3, 2015.
No doubt that time routing through the past and remembering the origins of his own musical career is one of the reasons he was inspired to get back into the studio and create a brand new album for the world to hear.
The upcoming biopic will tell the story of the popular 1980s rap group N.W.A., a group that helped launch Dr. Dre into the mega-star that he is today.
The album will feature Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, Xzibit, Snoop Dogg and a dozen or so more guest artists.
Dr. Dre. indicated that the album would be his last, writing on Twitter that it was ‘my grand finale.’. The album can be preordered on iTunes now ready for release on August 7th.
