Dr. Samuel Sullivan to participate in White House HBCU listening session
Prior to the White House gathering, the Congressional Black Caucus wrote to the president on Monday that “this meeting is not a photo op”, POLITICO reports. President Obama had eight years to undertake such an action yet elected not to do so. Dr. Kimbrough was among several presidents who were slated to present during the White House meeting, but whose time was cut due to scheduling shifts and cabinet speakers’ presentations.
The executive order creates an advisory board and requires some federal agencies to prepare an annual plan describing efforts to help the colleges participate in federal programs and initiatives. “This didn’t happen with an African-American president”, he said.
“Frankly”, he added, “the attention we’ve received in the last 45 or so days exceeds not just this past administration but the past three or four administrations”. “We will never deny, cover-up, or feign indifference to the system failing students”, she said, “and that includes students who have achieved at the level set out for them, only to find that the expectations for them were set too low”. “If he really steps up and does something big for HBCUs, he strikes a major blow at President Obama’s legacy”. “If they extend Pell across the year that would be of great benefit for our students”. She is also the CEO of the Atlanta University Center Woodruff Library which serves more than 8,000 students and faculty for Atlanta’s four HBCUs; Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College and Spelman College.
Innocent and innocuous remarks?
DeVos has since backtracked on her Twitter account.
DeVos’ transgression is her truthful statement that HBCUs provided greater access and greater quality options in education.
“I’m still processing that entire experience”.
Such rank partisanship for the sake of flinging mud at the president and his Education Secretary is shameful. Instead, Howard students began topublicly shame Frederick through their social media accounts and on Howard’sactual campus.
Among those joining Trump to visit with the HBCU leaders were Reince Priebus, White House chief of staff; Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president; Steve Bannon, chief strategist, and Steve Miller, White House policy adviser.
Samuel Sullivan announced he will join presidents who lead UNCF member institutions during a White House Listening Session.
The blind hatred and hypocrisy here is staggering.
Of course, there will always be a happy-go-lucky shoe-shine in the bunch only anxious about getting ahead and not the concerns of his people but this just seems to be a little fishy on both sides. Racist? Not a chance.

Henry Tisdale and South Carolina State University President James Clark were among HBCU presidents meeting with President Donald Trump and other officials Monday to discuss areas of collaboration. “A lot of people are going to be angry that they’re not a priority, but that’s OK”.
