Draft Biden pulls its ad urging the vice president to run
“Am I alone in finding this Draft Biden ad tasteless?” “The honest-to-God answer is I just don’t know”, Biden said while speaking at an Atlanta synagogue on September 3. The attacks would be against what the Clinton campaign calls Biden’s close ties to Wall Street and his opposition to the raid that would ultimately kill Osama bin Laden.
“Nobody has more respect for the Vice President and his family than we do”.
Sources say the vice president leaked the the story of his son’s deathbed encouragement to the Times columnist to help test a possible presidential run. The Vice President’s office shot this down pretty hard. What do you make of it? Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and several lower-profile candidates. “And Joe Biden, I think, believes maybe that’s the right time”. See what things look like.
The Draft Biden movement operates separately from the vice president’s political operation. “There is space for him in the race”.
One day after releasing the ad recalling Biden’s family tragedies and vowing to spend six figures to air it on national television, Draft Biden abruptly reversed course.
PETER ALEXANDER: Hey, Savannah, good morning to you.
Vice President Joe Biden isn’t running for president – not yet, anyway. AFL-CIO strategic adviser Eric Hauser said TPP has a big part of the higher-wages agenda his group will use to evaluate all candidates.
JOE BIDEN [“DRAFT BIDEN” AD]: You’re on the cusp of a few of the most astonishing breakthroughs in the history of mankind.
The cable ad buy was first announced Wednesday.
New York magazine, which broke the story, reports that Hillary aide David Brock-who leads a number of pro-Hillary organizations-has been stockpiling opposition research to take down Biden. But Clinton had a scheduling conflict – she was to appear on “Saturday Night Live” – so the group added a breakfast event at which she could speak.
ALEXANDER: The 42nd president also weighed in on the Republican front-runner. Like it or not, the perception of Clinton (and the Clintons more broadly) is that they are always pushing the limits and forever calculating what position to take through the lens of politics.
Yet he’s firmly supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership, putting him at odds with most Democratic presidential candidates and jeopardizing his support from unions if he enters the 2016 race.
COLBERT: No? Because that would be pretty smart, man.
Another Democratic operative who spoke to Daily Mail Online wasn’t convinced that Biden would get in at all but said, ‘I think it would be better for him to wait and miss the debate then for him to jump into the debate and be unprepared’. In that case, Mr. Biden might have to step in to prevent a Sanders nomination-a scenario that could amount to political suicide for the party in the 2016 elections.
“Unless I can go to my party and the American people and say that I am able to devote my whole heart and my whole soul to this endeavor, it would not be appropriate”, he told the crowd at the synagogue.
