Dragon Quest of the Stars is Announced for Smartphones
The news came through Jump magazine who also confirmed Dragon Quest Heroes II’s subtitle and it will be Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End. The “giant monsters and crowds of monsters-battle action” that was so popular in the previous game is powered up, of course.
We’ve known for a while that Square Enix has been working on something big for Dragon Quest, hinted at by the string of announcements and the incoming 30th anniversary, and we just might find out exactly what that is on Monday.
It’s an exciting time for Dragon Quest fans. The teaser graphics featured the game’s main character, monsters and the virtual setting in Alefgard.
Furthermore, the screenshots feature a few of the game’s mechanics, wherein the lead character uses the hammer to mine for materials and freebies, such as rock, wood, fruit, plant-life, slime and ooze, stated Polygon.
Given the basic premise behind the game, which involves players being handed the task of basically rebuilding the kingdom of Alefgard, the “Minecraft” comparisons were inevitable, as said by IGN.
As of now, very little else in the way of specific details have been revealed about “Dragon Quest Builders”, although it is expected to be a PlayStation exclusive.
Considering its 8bit lineage, following the Minecraft route was a smart move as it fits well with how the original Dragon Quest games look and feel.
The rest of the “Dragon Quest” games will soon be available to the PlayStation platforms.
