Dragon Quest XI Western Localization Is Possible But Square Enix Has No
In a stream released this morning by Enix, the two titles “Dragon Quest X” and “XI” were mentioned in passing to Nintendo’s NX, in addition to confirming “Dragon Quest XI” for PS4 and 3DS.
The newest entry in the franchise is officially coming to three different platforms, and all are expected to have some differences, according to The Verge.
The PS4 vesion of the game is being jointly developed between Square Enix and Orca and is being created on the Unreal Engine 4. It was shown at the presentation that the top screen of the 3DS will show the game in all of its 3D glory, while the bottom of the screen will show the game in the old school 2D design that looks like the Dragon Quest from 1995.
Nintendo 3DS is another platform that will host “Dragon Quest 11″.
Nintendo alerted its audience about the NX back in March 2015, the console’s existence was confirmed by the late and legendary Satoru Iwata who had announced that the new console will feature a completely fresh concept and something that would make gamers jump out of their seats. Nintendo has a mystery console in the works, and Square Enix might just have two titles for that mysterious console.
Dragon Quest 11 will be the first core game since 2004’s Dragon Quest 8 to come to a PlayStation platform, having been a Nintendo exclusive ever since.
In other news, it has also been confirmed that Dragon Quest XI and X are planned for the upcoming next generation console from Nintendo, codenamed the NX.
The Dragon Quest games are somewhat of a cultural phenomenon in Japan, and every iteration of the game sells millions upon millions every year.
