Dramatic Moment Coastguard Rescue 10-Month-Old Baby Drifting Out To Sea
A ten-month-old baby Melda Ilgın has been rescued at the Çanakkale beach in Turkey after she was found floating almost 1km out at sea in an inflatable toy.
Melda sits on her mother’s lap after being saved by Turkish coastguard.
Melda Ilgin’s parents sat her in the small yellow inflatable and placed her in the water near to them, the BGN News site reported.
By that time dozens of onlookers had gathered, and they watched as the baby girl was returned to her parents.
Video of the incident shows the rescue, which occurred about a kilometre out to sea.
Due to the lack of attention from her family, and strong northern winds, Melda began floating off towards the Greek island of Lesbos.
Beachgoers attempted to reach the child, but she was too far away.
An officer jumped into the water to stay with the child until she was pulled into the boat.
