Dre says he’ll donate royalties from new album to Compton
It will be available to stream to Apple Music customers on Thursday for three hours ahead of its Friday release, from 9pm until midnight Eastern Time – which is 2am to 5am GMT. Given that Dre’s been hyping Detox since the release of his last album, 1999’s 2001, the unreleased project’s failure has taken up much of the oxygen surrounding Compton: A Soundtrack, even though Dre is putting that LP into the world soon.
In addition to revealing that tidbit of information, Dre also dished out a couple of interesting facts about the creative process of Compton.
During a radio appearance this morning, Dr. Dre says he couldn’t decide on what type of philanthropy was best. The album was inspired by the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton“, in theaters August. 14.
