Duchess Kate dazzles in Princess Diana tiara
Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were driven to Her Majesty’s white-tie diplomatic reception, held at Buckingham Palace.
Heavy and often hard to wear, the piece, composed of jewels that Mary had in her collection, features swinging pearls hanging from 19 diamond arches capped with lovers’ knots bows.
But it was her decision to wear Diana’s favourite tiara that took the breath away from seasoned royal watchers.
For her 2011 wedding, Middleton chose the Cartier Halo tiara.
If everyone had as much fun as The Duchess of Cambridge rappelling this wall, the world would be a more peaceful place.
The tiara was reportedly commissioned from Garrard in 1913-1914 by Queen Mary. It was her own design and from pearls and diamonds already in her family’s possession. However, the 33-year-old princess’ husband, Prince William, was be furious of her 60-year-old mom for pushing her to have a different Holiday plans out of the Palace, according to reports.
The Duchess of Cambridge has doubtless received hundreds of festive season invitations, but so far there is just one she couldn’t turn down.
As if she needed another perk to being a princess. “It began when The Keeping Up with The Kardashian star wanted to have the same fairytale wedding and attention Kate had when marrying Prince William”.
The Duchess was sporting a new look for the occasion, with her hair around two inches shorter than her last appearance, and was wearing an outfit by LK Bennett. However, after Diana’s death in 1997, it was unclear if the tiara reverted back to Elizabeth or was passed on to Catherine, the Mail said.
When she and Prince William got engaged he gave her his late mother’s distinctive diamond and sapphire engagement ring.
