Ducks blow lead, game to Cougars
Oregon wore a gray theme uniform paying tribute to the state of Oregon, which featured an image of explorers Lewis and Clark – along with the Duck – on the helmet.
The Washington State Cougars are coming from a 34-28 loss to California in Week 5. With the huge effort, the 6-foot, 229-pounder has now racked up 860 yards on the ground while catching 15 passes for 179 yards.
Royce Freeman ran for a career-high 246 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a TD pass, for Oregon.
“I thought (Cracraft) was in because I thought he broke the plane”, Falk said.
Receiver Dom Williams hauled in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Falk with just one second left on the clock to knot the game up at 31 to end regulation, completing a shocking Cougars comeback. Lockie has struggled as of late at the helm of the offense, and Mark Helfrich needs to find a solution and quick to get this offense back up and running in a balanced fashion.
The Oregon defense remains a mess, as it gave up 641 total yards to the Cougars.
On Oregon’s ensuing possession on fourth down, Ducks QB Jeff Lockie threw to the end zone and had it intercepted by WSU’s Shalom Luani, which ended the game.
Aside from actually playing an early version of Oregon Trail, this Tweet is probably the best use of the vintage game since it experienced a recent resurgence in popularity among people whose parents were kids when the game was first released.
WSU went on offense first in the second OT and got a break on the first play when Oregon defensive back Tyree Robinson was called for a personal foul for a tackle out of bounds. They hurt themselves with a holding call, and only managed to drive to the 26-yard line before their fourth down attempt came up short.
“In our mind I think if a quarterback can pull it and get a first down we can end the game”, Frost said.
“You have two choices: You can go downhill from now and give up or you can refocus”.
It was an impressive feat for WSU that the game even went into overtime. In receiving Charles Nelson had 44 yards and one touchdown in two catches while Jalen Brown added a 43-yards touchdown reception. The Ducks thought they’d escaped and burst off the sideline in celebration – prematurely, it turned out.
“They probably wanted it more”, safety Tyree Robinson said. Taylor Allie would remain in the game at Quarterback. On Saturday, that program, Oregon, suffered an equally stunning loss, only instead of a blowout it was decided in double overtime. We played a great game. “So I’m proud of our guys”.
