Ducks sign summer acquisition Carl Hagelin to four-year contract
The Anaheim Ducks announced that they have signed Carl Hagelin to a four-year contract. The team did not release financial terms of the deal, but Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports the deal is worth a total of $16 million which comes out to an annual salary cap hit of $4 million per season.
Hagelin, 26, was acquired from the Rangers with second-round (59th overall) and sixth-round (179th overall) selections in the 2015 National Hockey League Draft in exchange for left wing Emerson Etem and a second-round (41st overall) pick in the 2015 National Hockey League Draft.
The Ducks have re-signed all of their significant free agents heading into training camp next month.
His previous deal carried an AAV of $2.25 million.
That move provided the Ducks with the type of speedy forward that Ducks GM Bob Murray craved.
For the Ducks, Hagelin represented the final contract question on bench boss Bruce Boudreau’s roster. Last season he had 17 goals, 35 points, and a plus-18 rating in 82 games with the Rangers, according to NHL.com. Over 226-career games with the Broadway Blueshirts Hagelin collected 58 goals and 72 assists. They also also signed defenseman Kevin Bieksa, who was acquired from the Canucks; and forward Ryan Kesler, who got a six-year extension. He was a restricted free agent after joining the Ducks.
