Duncan Jones was not impressed by Lady Gaga’s Bowie tribute
Film director Duncan Jones, the son of Bowie and his first wife Angie, made a cryptic post on Twitter following Monday’s Grammy awards show in which he shared a dictionary definition of the word “gaga”. “What IS that word?!” he tweeted.
Gaga’s tribute began on the red carpet, where, before the ceremony’s broadcast, she sported a shock of red hair and a psychedelic wardrobe reminiscent of Ziggy Stardust-era Bowie. She accessorized her look with a pair of red platform sandals and a white, feathery jacked she kept draped over her shoulder. Gaga’s tribute to Bowie was one of the most written-about topics in the lead-up to the 58th Grammy Awards.
It’s unclear whether the Tweet was actually a veiled swipe at Gaga’s performance, but users were quick to decipher it as such.
In an interview with Mashable ahead of Monday’s performance, Gaga said she wanted it to show the “growth and evolution” of his music.
She closed the stunning, nearly seven minute long, performance with a rendition of Heroes, which garnered a standing ovation and plaudits from friends and fans.
His death came just days after his 69th birthday and release of his final album, “Blackstar”.
She was also joined on stage by Nile Rodgers, who produced Bowie’s 1983 album Let’s Dance and became a lifelong friend.
According to news from Out, Lady Gaga got her David Bowie tattoo right before her Grammy performance, fresh off her Golden Globe win.
“I only hung out with people that were artists and that was the way that he was and I learned that from him”.

“We did what no thoughtful parents should do and let him move to Los Angeles at age 17”, Bennett joked.
