Dundee United manager McNamara on verge of being sacked
Dundee United have confirmed manager Jackie McNamara has left his post by mutual consent with immediate effect.
Jackie McNamara was relieved of his duties as manager following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at St Johnstone.
McNamara has a had a poor start to the season with United lying second bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
McNamara remains an employee of the Tannadice club but will not be in charge for next Saturday’s visit to Partick Thistle. But McNamara has come under pressure from his own fans, with sections demanding he be sacked.
Bowman is a former United midfielder who won six Scotland caps and had a spell as caretaker boss at Livingston in 2007.
Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill also has his admirers within the United boardroom but being on the verge of leading his country to the European Championship finals in France next summer would make it hard for him to be lured away.
