DuPont and Dow annouce U.S. site structure for agricultural company
The Agriculture company will be headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.
It means the state will house two-thirds of DowDuPonts’ global headquarters, and it’s a major win for state economic leaders.
The new agriculture company to be created after the merger of DuPont and Dow would have its headquarters in DuPont’s hometown of Wilmington, Del., with “global business centers” in Iowa and Indiana.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad issued a statement following the announcement.
He adds it means DowDuPont sees Delaware’s strategic position in the marketplace.
DuPont-Pioneer headquarters in Johnston. Midland, Mich., Dow’s home since 1897, will retain the material-sciences company, the companies said on Friday. It’s possible that some of those savings could come from economies of scale and also from growth from the newly formed company. Dow and DuPont announced Friday morning the new ag company will be headquartered in DE and have Global Business Centers in Indianapolis and Iowa. Stay tuned for updates.

The three-way split into agriculture, material sciences and specialty products is likely to occur 18 to 24 months after the merger closes, which is expected in the second half of 2016. While details of the incentive package offered by IN have not been revealed, McKinney said they are “performance based” and will depend on the number of employees, programs, and projects the new company develops.
Hoosier Ag Today has learned from outside sources that the focus of the work to be done at the Dow AgroSciences facility on the NW side of Marion County will be related to crop protection and seed trait research.
“The functions that they have there would continue to exist and be more co-located with other agricultural activities, and leadership more focused on that”, King said, “than the other divisions that they now have to worry about with DuPont”.
Meanwhile, the headquarters location of the other two intended independent, publicly traded companies has also been determined.
