Dwayne Johnson developing ‘San Andreas’ sequel
Dwayne Johnson may be about to find out, as New Line Cinema is putting a sequel to San Andreas into development.
Johnson will reprise his role as a search and rescue pilot.
Brad Peyton, director of the first San Andreas and set to helm Johnson in videogame adaptation Rampage next, will be calling the shots on San Andreas 2 as well.
Volcano eruptions were one of the few natural disasters that didn’t come from San Andreas, although L.A. already got hit by one of those in Volcano nearly 20 years ago.
Last summer’s San Andreas was another big box office success for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The “San Andreas” sequel will also see the return of Alexandra Daddario, Paul Giamatti and Carla Gugino. New Line has hired Blacklist writers Neil Widener and Gavin James to pen the script for the sequel. “I was down in Miami and I lived down there for Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which was a category five (hurricane)”. Seriously, I thought his character would have let his little brother die if it meant one more fleeting moment with Daddario in a wet t-shirt. Everybody was in the bathtub. “So I think the idea of coming together like we were showcasing in our story resonates with people and I think if there is any connection for me, it would be that”.
