Dwyane Wade leaves Miami Heat for Chicago Bulls
Wade agreed to a two-year deal with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, but Miami is not going to wait long to honor its former franchise player.
On Wednesday night, Wade released to The Associated Press a letter he penned to Miami with hopes of explaining some of the reasons for his move back to Chicago and his emotions about the decision. He was Third Team All-NBA in 2011-12 and made four straight NBA All-Defensive teams in 2008-09 (2nd), 2009-10 (1st), 2010-11 (1st) and 2011-12 (2nd).
This past season he played a career low 30.5 minutes a game and averaged 19.0 points per game, which equalled his lowest total since his rookie season in 2003-04.
“Growing up, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls was the team for us”. I’ve always envisioned myself – being in the backyard with a Bulls jersey on – always envisioned Dwyane Wade’s name being called in the United Center.
National Basketball Association fans might recall that Rondo, when he was still with the Boston Celtics, got a flagrant foul in 2013 during a game against Miami when he grabbed Wade by the neck. I mean, this goes back to the days when the Bulls were courting Tracy McGrady with Benny the Bull, and Wade himself was only using the Bulls to get a better contract from the Heat.
On Thursday, while guest-hosting the popular morning television talk show “Live with Kelly” alongside Kelly Ripa in New York, Wade paid tribute to Heat fans again and thanked them for their support. With this signing, the Bulls can add very good stability at the wing position in a lineup that doesn’t really have many reliable players besides Jimmy Butler. When the Heat tried to lowball him, Wade felt disrespected and decided it was time to move on. “Just trying to mesh together and try to make sure we are doing the best thing for the team”.
The Dwyane Wade Saga has officially come to an end, and the legend will be suiting up for the Chicago Bulls next season. Rondo and Wade admittedly haven’t had as many run-ins during recent seasons – Rondo’s saved most of those for his coaches – but it certainly is worth monitoring. “And at the same time, we want to be able to compete and put as good a team as we can out there on the floor”.
Before reports surfaced about Wade going to Chicago, he had been linked with the Denver Nuggets, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
After those comments were made, the relationship deteriorated – to the point where Wade wanted to leave the only team for which he has played.
