E class gets 4-banger, autonomous features
In the rear, the taillights have a two bar design that’s also reminiscent of its sedan siblings. A sneak look at the spec sheet reveals that under the surface, the new E-class is packed with new stuff, including a replacement for Mercedes’ frugal-but-clattery 2.1-litre diesel engine.
Step inside and you’ll find a cabin inspired by the full-size S-Class, with a large 12.3-inch screen as the centerpiece of the dash.

The decision on whether the first E-Class will come capable of being retrofitted with full “Drive Pilot” capabilities is yet to be resolved McCarthy admitted. Second-row seats now split 40/20/40 for added versatility.
In the United States, the E Class will be launched with a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that develops 241 hp and 370 Nm of torque. That’s the same powerplant as in the new SLC300 roadster. However, the E-Class already has the necessary technology, and engineers only need to tweak the Drive Pilot control software before hitting the road, hence the award.
Optionally, you can choose the Direct Control suspension with selective damping in either Comfort or Sport configurations. Conventional teel suspension is further developed for better ride quality and comes with a variety of ride heights and stiffness, and there’s the option of Mercedes’ new multi-chamber air suspension.
It uses dozens of sensors including cameras and radar systems to “read” the traffic around it and determine when it is safe to overtake, and follows the direction of a road without lane markings providing there are other telltale signs such as other traffic. There is another advantage: while using Near Field Communication, the customer’s smartphone becomes the digital vehicle key with which the auto can be locked and unlocked as well as started.
Moreover, the 10-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class also flaunts a glossy appearance and groundbreaking technologies. The company will also inaugurate 10 new outlets across existing and new markets and launch innovative retail activities in Tier II and III markets to drive the brand’s growth in these potential markets.
The last night debuts continue as Mercedes has taken the wraps off the all-new E-Class. It just makes sense. Many cars now have automatic cruise control that maintains a set distance with the vehicle in front. The driver can receive reports of accidents, broken-down vehicles, and unsafe weather conditions.
Beyond the front fascia, Mercedes’ newest sedan boasts a long hood – a styling cue that has defined the E-Class and its predecessors for decades – and muscular haunches, but it gains a more coupe-like silhouette than the outgoing model.
