E3 2016: Resident Evil 7 announced
Resident Evil VII is coming January 24, and it is coming to PlayStation 4.
Sony has unveiled a raft of new games at the E3 video games trade show in LA that will be playable in virtual reality via its PlayStation 4 console and VR headset.
Resident Evil 7 takes place in a modern day rural America, and chronologically takes place after the events of Resident Evil 6. Capcom‘s post reads, “While Resident Evil 7 draws from the series’ roots of atmospheric survival horror, it also delivers a whole new level of terror”. We can’t either, and you don’t have to: a demo is available now for PlayStation Plus members.
Resident Evil is back, and it looks like it loved P.T. just as much as everyone on the internet did.
Resident Evil 7 is built on a new proprietary in-house engine that includes virtual reality-oriented tools. PS4 VR will be released in October this year selling for $399 dollars and the list of wonderful games for it is constantly racking up. Notably, Capcom is hoping to make for a scarier experience this time around, announcing that they’re ditching the series’ standard third person for first-person gameplay instead – hoping to bring players directly into the horror.
The trailer for RE 7 started out slowly, with a character waking up in an abandoned mansion from a first person point of view. The trailer also referenced Kitchen, which is a horrifying demo for the PlayStation VR created by Capcom, which has shot up in popularity. Unholy horrors exist outside of this beam of light, and players will most certainly feel on edge based on how little they will be able to see of their surroundings. Although it is set in a spooky house, the demo, titled Beginning Hour, is nothing like any previous game in the series.
