EA details Star Wars Battlefront’s “Blast” mode
As reported by the announcement, new “multiplayer modes along with a brand-new gameplay footage and even a new hero type” will be unveiled at the annual convention. Headed to Gamescom? If so, you will be among the first gamers to go hands on with a new and unique game mode I know fans of Starfighters are going to be excited about. For those living in Anaheim, CA, you can play it next month at the D23 event.
EA’s Star Wars twitter account has put out a cryptic tweet announcing that a new gamemode will be revealed tomorrow for the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront.
Talking to GamesIndustry, Soderlund said that the impositions applied on EA by Disney – not just for Star Wars: Battlefront, but presumably other Star Wars titles as well, including the one Amy Henning is working – are actually fairly reasonable and rather simple.
Everett added that the heroes and villains will be part of multiplayer modes and maps in the upcoming game that “suit their abilities” best. The famous characters will be stronger than everyone else, so they need to make the game fairer for other players.
Missions mode can be played both online and offline for the single player campaign of “Star Wars Battlefront“.
The maps in Blast are a bit smaller, but DICE says they’ve been specifically designed for the mode and have slight variations. It’s also possible that this new mode will focus exclusively on vehicle battles and nix all of the ground-based FPS combat, but that runs counter intuitive to the game’s main focus.
Playable races such as Twi’lerks, Zabraks, Quarrens and Sullustrans will be unlockable in he Rebel faction.
The split screen feature, as an additional note, was declared to be unavailable for the PC version.
