EA estimates put Xbox One sales at around 19 million
According to GamesIndustry, during an earnings call Jorgensen stated that the combined figure of current generation consoles sold is at 55 million units.
However, Xbox One is still outselling any previous Xbox console so Microsoft will be happy about that. Most recently, Sony revealed it has sold an impressive 35.9 million PS4s, which-when deducted from EA’s 55 million figure-leaves around 19 million units for the Xbox One.
I think our business seems to be operating pretty consistent as it has been over the last couple of years. While he is the same guy who rightly predicted in the past that both the consoles will cross the 50 million mark by the end of 2015, this time it looks like he is stretching it a bit too much.
Microsoft said last night that whilst there was a “slight” decrease in Xbox One revenue for the quarter ended December 31, it actually sold more Xbox One systems than the prior year, but did so at a lower cost and therefore made less money.
Now, 19 million is a great place for Xbox One to be, and Microsoft has said sales are up compared to the Xbox 360’s early years.
VentureBeat estimated 1.99 million Xbox One units sold in Microsoft’s fiscal first quarter ending September 30, with around 15 million Xbox One consoles sold in total since it was launched on November 2013. A year ago, Sony reported that it had 64 million monthly active users of its PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network, when the company merged them into one service. In the last three months of the year, Xbox Live saw nine new users jump in.
