Eagles beat Bills, stay tied for 1st
First, Bills returner Marcus Thigpen muffed a punt and the Eagles recovered on the Bills’ 37.
Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, returning to Lincoln Financial Field for the first time since the Philadelphia Eagles traded him, briefly kneeled at midfield and kissed the Eagles’ logo before the coin toss.
As the push to the playoffs continues, the Bills begin their three-game tour of the NFC East with a trip to Philadelphia.
Sturgis converted another field goal to open the second half, this time from 41 yards to push the Eagles’ lead to 10. He also caught four passes for 34 yards.
But McCoy wasn’t a happy camper when he left the Linc following the Bills’ 23-20 loss to the Eagles on Sunday afternoon. He didn’t necessarily handle the defeat well, storming off the field and throwing his helmet against the wall on his way into the locker room. But he was traded for linebacker Kiko Alonso last March after Kelly took control of personnel decisions. The definition has become more convoluted over time, and Kelly said he isn’t the only coach who is confused by the rules. And perhaps he didn’t like hearing boos from many Eagles fans.
The Bills answered the Eagles touchdown in the next series.
Ryan Mathews might be playing again which is good news for Kelly. He said he asks for clarifications during the game, but those clarifications don’t get him very far. The loss puts the Buffalo Bills virtually out of playoff contention as they fall fo 6-7.
Tyrod Taylor was the star of the show – his streak of 222 passes without a solitary pick ended when his deep pass floated right to Ed Reynolds with 1:16 left on the clock.
“We moved the ball pretty well and push it down the field, but we just couldn’t capitalize when we had to”, Taylor said.
We predicted Sammy B would come out swinging and throw for 200 yards, 2 TD’s and 0 INT’s.well at halftime he’s over half way.
The Eagles led 20-13 in the third quarter when a 19-yard touchdown run by backup running back Mike Gillislee tied it up.
McCoy led all ball-carriers with 63 yards in the first half. The Bills started their drive at the Eagles’ 44. The Eagles’ stellar play on defense in the fourth quarter helped paved the way to Caleb Sturgis’s game-winning 30-yard field goal.
“We had 15 penalties”. “I like the fact we are going to Philly because you can get a good cheesesteak”, Rex Ryan said.
“We just got penalty after penalty”, Ryan said.
