EAGLES CAMP: Eagles respond to Cowboys banner
Planned and organized by the fans of the Cowboys, the practice session of the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field during the weekend was interrupted by the banner towed by a small plane that flew over the stadium, according to ESPN.
Details surrounding the pilot’s identity are still under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Pacific Division, but the aircraft in question was not the plane funded by Eagles fans to fly over Cowboys’ compound in Oxnard, Calif., during practice – as was reported initially.
The timing of the flyover was particularly poor, as it was during the playing of the national anthem – on Military Appreciation Day, no less.
Hardy got involved after Cowboys fans started a GoFundMe.com campaign to raise funds. Hardy will be suspended for the first four games of the Cowboys’ season.
I wonder if that plane will be back when the Eagles host the Cowboys on September 20…
An Eagles fan then wrmote a message on the banner’s GoFundMe page, claiming that he had been the one in charge of funding the plane and the banner. Eagles players took a mental note to be revisited very soon. Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson called the incident, “a waste of money”. I can’t get into details right now. “He’s going to have his hands full with 71, I promise you that”.
A familiar chant went up from the over 40,000 Eagles fans in attendance at the free practice: “Dallas sucks! We’re not concerned about them but it seems like they’re concerned about us”, said DeMeco Ryans.
The Eagles banner would have been on the next plane scheduled to take off, but could not do so because of the crash, reports Kate Larsen of NBC Los Angeles.
