You’d be hard pressed to find many players, other than former Oregon Ducks who played for him in college, who have positive things to say about Kelly. Kelly’s gamble with unconventional personnel moves not paying off right away seemed to be the biggest reason Lurie had to fire his coach, who had a 6-9 record this season after a bunch of offseason moves didn’t pan out.

The problem, especially as it relates to the Browns, is that even if you want to make a pitch for Kelly you need to have a firm backup plan in place in case you miss out.
