Eagles’ defense looks like it has thrown in the towel
They took only 8 minutes, 45 seconds off the clock.
At this point, the less time the defense is on the field, the better. As things stand at the moment, it looks like the Philadelphia Eagles head coach’s radical roster choices and personnel hiring are taking a turn for the worse. What was supposed to be a high-powered unit can barely sputter. Detroit picked up an average of 6.1 yards per play, making things very easy most of the day against a awful Eagles defense. We talk a lot about offensive coordinators, which Chip Kelly once was, being too creative, or too “cute” with their playcalling. The Mark Sanchez football squad now holds a 4-7 record following their third straight loss courtesy of the Detroit Lions.
Johnson, who missed two games with a knee injury in 2013 and three with an ankle sprain previous year, has battled ankle problems this fall. I’ve seen them play before. “That’s when it got a little personal for me, because I had visited the Eagles, but they made a decision to take him over me”. And it’s the Eagles’ defense that becomes exhausted instead. Three months into the season, the same offensive woes from September are present.
While it did not affect the outcome, the Eagles scored with 3:02 left to play as Sanchez threw to Jordan Matthews for a 24-yard score.
While he had some strong moments in each of his first two years – his teams were able to win games and put up impressive numbers with a relatively unknown quarterback like Nick Foles calling signals – Kelly did not have the breakthrough that owner Bob Lurie was expecting.
Johnson came into the game with eight receiving touchdowns on Thanksgiving, the most in league history. The Eagles’ outside receivers combined for only seven catches on Thursday.
Rick Osentoski/AP It’s another rough Thanksgiving outing for Mark Sanchez, this time with the Eagles.
The Eagles running game was non-existent against the Lions, with DeMarco Murray rushing for just 30 yards on 14 carries and Kenjon Barner adding 25 yards. “We didn’t do a good from a protection standpoint”. But Trey Burton deserves a shot, especially after he was one of the few bright spots against the Lions with his first career reception, a 43-yard catch and run.
Doe he think hell reach 1,000 yards? By this point past year, he had 10. “I don’t think anyone has any idea of how good he’s capable of being”. “It’s not one guy, it’s not one position, it’s just the entire team”. RB Ryan Mathews and TE Zach Ertz were inactive because of lingering concussion symptoms. It didn’t help that they lost tackle Jason Peters on their first possession, but this was just a poor performance. More than that, there’s a growing sentiment that Kelly may be getting tuned out in the locker-room, and if that’s the case, it would be hard to justify bringing him back in 2016. They were a top five scoring offense the last two seasons, and they’re No. 20 this season. To replace Caroll the Eagles signed Jaylen Carroll off of the Buffalo Bills practice squad. Watkins was the Eagles’ 2014 fourth-round pick. In his first season, the Eagles landed in the playoffs after winning the NFC East, but they lost in the Wild Card Playoff Round to the New Orleans Saints.
