Eagles Of Death Metal Returns To Paris For Concert Appearance
On Monday, members of Eagles of Death Metal were caught on camera at the Paris airport, prompting a new round of speculation.
Page Six reports the band’s tribute to Parisian victims began with songs “The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)”, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Where the Streets Have No Name”. “We will never give up rocking and rolling”.
U2 then left the stage and the American band performed I Love You All The Time, telling the crowd: “Thank you Paris – we love you”.
It’s been less than a month since the horrific Paris terrorist attacks, one of which happened during an Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Le Bataclan venue.
Bono reportedly told the crowd, “We stand together with the families who lost their loved ones in Paris”, according to the Irish Independent.
During their performance at Paris’ AccorHotels Arena, which was originally scheduled for last month, but had to be postponed following the attacks, the Irish band projected the names of all 130 victims of that attacks behind them.
On Sunday night, U2 was joined by singer Patti Smith to perform “Gloria” and “People Have the Power”.
The California rockers were invited to the stage for an emotional encore by U2 during their second night of rescheduled gigs in the French capital. “We have another surprise guest planned for tonight’s show”, the note read.
Many fans commented that showing up at the concert was symbolic and an important way for Paris to move on from what happened just over three weeks ago while others said they were not scared.
“I went to the Bataclan today and it was one of the saddest sights I have ever seen”, said the 44-year-old, who travelled from Dusseldorf in Germany for the gig.
“When there’s such an intensity of trouble you have to live so you have to follow up your life as if…not like nothing happened but to show that there is a resistance”, said U2 fan Franck Marchal.
