Eagles QB Sam Bradford has separated shoulder in addition to concussion
Sam Bradford isn’t far enough along in the concussion protocol to practice.
Bradford and Mathews were both knocked out of Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins in the third quarter, and the team failed to score a touchdown after the two players exited.
Bradford also suffered a Grade 2 AC joint sprain in his left (non-throwing) shoulder on the play he suffered the concussion.
94WIP’s Howard Eskin reported earlier this week that Eagles’ left-tackle Jason Peters refused to dress because he wasn’t going to start.
Chip Kelly seemed confident in todays press conference that Barwin would be ready for this weekends home stand against Tampa but was quick to say that Marcus Smith “has been coming along” and that he remains very confident in his ability.
Mark Sanchez replaced Bradford in the game. Kelly said he can’t tell how the shoulder is doing because Bradford hasn’t been able to do anything while going through the concussion protocol.
Kelly was asked if Peters suffered a setback: “Good question”, he said. “I just know that he can’t go today”.
“[Running back] Ryan Mathews same thing and [guard] Josh Andrew is the same thing”, Kelly said.
Safety Walter Thurmond is back at practice on Wednesday, while linebacker Connor Barwin is limited due to a quad injury, according to Kelly.
-Kelly on Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston: “I think he’s gotten better as the season has progressed”. He said that “it’s always been a priority to have ILB depth for us and it’s been tested this year” before going onto reference that Najee Goode is available.
