Eagles QBs Tim Tebow, Matt Barkley compete one more round

The Philadelphia Eagles delivered a 39-26 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 in which they outscored the Packers 25-0 in the first quarter. Keeping two quarterbacks on the active roster and one on the practice squad is the way of the forward thinkers in the NFL. But the linebacker said the tendinitis is not uncommon.

For much of the summer, it has been assumed that rookie cornerback Eric Rowe would be the team’s season-opening nickel corner. Neither attempt ended successfully but with some more practice, having Tebow as an option in those scenarios could be a slight advantage for the team.

The counterpoint to that argument, however, is that there are too many talented players here that extra spot could be given to.

Asked whether Andrew Gardner, the starting right guard for the Eagles’ first three preseason games, will be the season-opening starter there, Kelly said, “We haven’t finalized anything”.

Carroll said yesterday he has no idea what will happen.

“We’ll see where he is”.

Carroll said he’s not surprised Rowe struggled inside.

“Stay focused, know what you have to do and then go do it”, he said.

“You have to find a way to balance it, and that can be some of the problem [he’s having]”. Please restore my faith and tell me the time left before the opener will be enough to rectify the situation, and my optimism for this team was not brought to a fevered pitch for nothing. After one disaster of a season there, he landed in New England where the Patriots released him at the end of the 2013 preseason. These are two decent guys who just want to play football.

Tebow and Barkley have been battling in training camp and the preseason to see who will end up third behind Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez.

I hate to say it, but if Cobb is out more than two weeks, we are in serious trouble. If these guys can’t beat the Jets, then we’re probably in trouble.

Parkey’s field goal success will bear watching, especially if his groin injury lingers into the season. But Kelly clearly has put his reputation on the line and there will be no one else to share the credit or the blame for the Eagles’ 2015 fortunes.
