Eagles silence McCoy while defeating Bills
Fast-forward to the waning moments of the Bills-Eagles Week 15 matchup, and it becomes clear LeSean McCoy is regretting some of the words that have been coming out of his mouth. “Kelly has stated from the beginning that the move was purely financials but McCoy believed that there were racial motivations behind the move being quoted as saying “[Chip Kelly] cuts all of the good black players”.
Returning to the Lincoln Financial Field, McCoy kissed the Eagles logo on the field and gave team owner Jeffrey Lurie a hug before the game started. With the Eagles in the stretch run of the NFC East race, Bradford can raise his stock over the next three games and build towards maximizing his career for an extended period of time.
McCoy was served a large slice of humble pie in the Bills’ loss to the Eagles, but cowardly evaded commenting to any media person after being a primary instigator in the weeks leading up to this game. “Despite being the more talented team in my view, the Bills had way too many plays negated or followed up by demoralizing penalties”. ON the ground, LeSean McCoy rushed for 112 yards in 21 attempts.
Well, McCoy didn’t shake anybody’s hand – as the final seconds ticked away, he dashed to the tunnel and the Bills locker room without exchanging pleasantries with any of his former teammates. He used tight end Zach Ertz (five catches, 98 yards) as a safety blanket, and made very few mistakes throughout the day. They combined for 27 yards on the Eagles’ first touchdown drive, including a 15-yard run by Sproles, and finished with eight rushing first downs. The Eagles come into today’s game as one of the worst against opposing quarterbacks, allowing 28 touchdowns passes and three rushing TDs to QBs. The Bills (6-6) are one game behind in the AFC wild-card standings.
The Philadelphia Eagles are hearing a great deal of chirping out of both a current and former running back. “That’s why [he] said it. I know him”. Normally not a vocal guy, he has addressed the team before each of its last two wins over New England and Buffalo.
The Eagles used an up-tempo, no huddle attack to march down the field on their first possession; capping off a nine-play, 61-yard drive with a one-yard Darren Sproles score.
Bradford 53-yard touchdown pass to rookie receiver Nelson Agholor. But two straight holding penalties on Dennis Kelly, filling in for Jason Peters who left with an ankle injury, left the Eagles with a 2nd-and-26 from their own 47. He had a team-high 13 carries for 38 yards.
