Early Apple creative expert joins Huawei
Huawei’s latest hire signifies the company’s ambitions in the smartphone market. As a matter of fact, Google went with the Chinese manufacturer to make its recently unveiled Nexus 6P. Now that Huawei is beginning to dominate the market, it’s making huge strides to further its presence.
Brody’s LinkedIn profile says she was creative director and hiring manager at Apple for nearly 10 years to January 2011, working on the design of the first iPhone as well as the iCloud.
Abigail Brody, who has worked at Apple for a decade before moving to eBay, is now the chief designer of Huawei’s interface and user experience, the Chinese handset maker said. Her duties included managing a global team of 300 to work on the visual design of PayPal’s website and mobile services.
To show how serious the company is taking design, it seems that Huawei will be creating a U.S. design studio in which we can only assume is where Brody will be working from.
Recently confirmed (by a few sources at least) as the world’s third biggest smartphone manufacturer behind Apple and Samsung, Huawei clearly intends to take on its high-end rivals at their own game. With the appointment of Brody to oversee the user interface of the company’s devices, Huawei will more than likely play a significant part in the lucrative smartphone industry.
