Earrings added to computer image of dead girl
In this image, you can see that the little girl, believed to be 4 years old, has pierced ears.
This is not the actual photo of the girl whose remains were found on a Boston Harbor beach last month.
WINTHROP, Mass. (July 8, 2015) -Police are renewing their plea for the public to help identify a baby girl who was found on a Deer Island beach. The child was wearing white leggings with black polka dots. A zebra-print blanket also was found.
So far, the image has received an astonishing 45 million views and thousands of shares from social media users trying to help identify the girl, ABC-6 writes.
The tiny earrings were added after new information from the medical examiner and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
And many people have posted potential clues. Authorities insinuated this when Suffolk DA Daniel Conley recently appealed to the girl’s parents. Those leads are being forwarded to investigators with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Fitch said.
They also have no idea how she died. Massachusetts law enforcement is waiting for the outcome of toxicology results to determine if the child could have been poisoned or consumed drugs.
The girl had brown eyes and brown hair and weighed about 30 pounds. Her body was reasonably intact but had a modest amount of decomposition.
All were found to be safe and well.
Investigators declined to speak to the possibility of criminal charges in the case, as the autopsy hasn’t yet revealed a cause of death, Conley told the Boston Globe. People from Maine to California, Canada and Puerto Rico have shared the posting, with many of them expressing sorrow or anger over the girl’s death.
“She’s someone’s child! Surely, someone knows something!” commented one Facebook user. “Shared in San Diego”, wrote another.
The identity of Philly’s boy in the box may never be known, but will authorities in Massachusetts be able to figure out who Baby Doe really is?
